Tom and Huck meet some other boys, and Tom wants to organize a band of robbers. From the various "pirate-books and robber-books" that Tom has read, he binds the members of his gang together with a beautiful oath and then makes plans to "stop stages and carriages on the road, with masks on, and kill the people and take their watches and money." Tom also wants to kidnap people and then hold them for ransom, but nobody knows what a ransom is. It is almost daylight before Huck creeps back throug ....
