It was very unlikely that on his travels he would meet and kill his own father, and coincidentally solve the riddle that brought him to the throne in Thebes, and into his mother’s bed. Perhaps some sort of divine intervention induced these events to happen, because the chance of everything working out so perfectly was not likely. “Laios was murdered as the oracle foretold (1075).” It was fate that led Oedipus to the correct location.
