The final shot, the shot of his hand before and after the ax chops of William Wallace’s head, shows a great deal of emotion with the music in the background, and the slow motion of the shot. Before the ax hits him you can see his hand clinch the marriage cloth tightly preparing for the impact, and after it hits, you see the hand go limp and the marriage cloth goes free and gives a feeling that he accomplished all he could in life, and can now be with his wife in heaven.
